Desi majoritatea populatiei foloseste informatiile existente si tehnologia interactiva, multi manageri nu inteleg ca varietatea de informatii/servicii/produse nu este acelasi lucru cu customizarea informatiilor/serviciilor/produselor. Customizarea insemna ca un produs sau serviciu sau o informatie sa raspunda unei nevoi particulare a unui client, iar mass customization inseamna sa faci acest lucru intr-un mod eficient financiar.

- vanatori de intelegeri
- clienti care cumpara pe baza unui program prestabilit
- clienti care au tranzactii ocazionale
- relationship buyers

Daca ne uitam la majoritatea emailurilor primite putem observa ca cele mai multe au un content care este trimis imediat ce a fost scris. Approape toate emailurile sunt trimise cu acelasi content clientilor si non-clientilor. Oameni care au facut zeci de cumparari primesc acelasi email precum persoanele care nu au cumparat absolut nimic.
